The fed cattle trade
continued to operate in a
bearish atmosphere in
reflection of a dull carcass
trade the forepart of week,
and a general lack of op
timism. Prices on Slaughter
Steers and Heifers were
forced downward early
despite ipodest marketings
and only a portion of the
downturn was regained at
midweek in a ratter forced
trade on meager supplies,
ost baying interests were
still selective, and were
usually competitive only for
minimum numbers. The
overall finish of the steer and
heifer supply was ratter
attractive with a fair per
centage Choice, although
steers weighing 1200 lbs. and
heavier were still scarce.
Slaughter Steers made up
appoximately 37 pet and
Heifers 28 pet. Cows com
prised 9 pet and feeders 24
pet.
