They also enjoyed Neil Simon's Chapter Two at the Totem Pole Playhouse. On September 20 they entertained Society 27 at the Hempfield Church of the Brethern. A memorial service was conducted by Mrs. Martha Heidman for Mrs. Gertrude Forney. A short comical dramatization was done by Mrs, Goldie Groff. Mrs. Emmie Snavely, accompanied by Mrs. Terri Mummau, sang two num bers relating to Mrs. Ruth Ann Fitzgerald’s inspiring „alk on How to Live with Illness Today. On October 16, members of Society 5 will be visiting the guests at Conestoga View. The October meeting will be held on the 25th at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Thomas. Lancaster Co, Society 8 Farm Women’s Society 8 members have enjoyed several educational trips in September. Early in the month, they went to Shady Maple, to be entertained by another Society. Later in the month they took a bus trip to Annapolis, Maryland. This was a harbor trip and they were given a forty minute boat cruise. They went to a seafood house for a delicious meal which was a treat. Ethel Herr and Margaret Heisey were in charge of trip details. On September 27, the Society met at the home of Grace Bixler. Twenty-six members- and one visitor attended. Kathryn Heisey, president of the Society, presided over the meeting. The song We plow the Fields and Scatter, was sung by all as Mary Grace Martin led and Pauline Miller ac companied on the piano. Mary Grace was in charge of devotions, giving thoughts on the changes appearing before us in the fall season. Temperature changes, leaf coloring and activities remind us that October has arrived. She also read scripture. Anna Mae Derr, secretary, read the minutes of recent activities and took the Roll Call. Members told who was president the year of their birth, as response to Roll Call. The Treasurer’s report was given by Hettie Ginder. The Sunshine Committee reported having received notes of thanks from those who were hospitalized lately. She gave many pointers on successful growing of dahlias for much pleasure, she showed lovely blooms from her own garden. Delicious refreshments were served during social time. Hostesses , were Grace Bixler, Elizabeth Shuman, Ruth Drager and Mary Shaeffer. Some members will sew at the General Hospital on October 2nd. The next meeting will be held at the home of Alice Myers, Mount Joy Rl. The date is October 18 at 2 p.m. Vera Cox will present the main feature of the af ternoon. Lancaster Co, Society 21 Farm Women Society 21 met on September 10 at the home of Hazel Aument. Hazel opened the meeting by reading from Chapter 13 of Corinthians. Roll call was taken. There were 22 members present and 2 visitors, Mrs. Corinne Nissiey, past president of Lancaster Co. and Mrs. Opal Ruhl, Lancaster Co. president. The secretary’s report was read and approved.
