Fulton Grange hears national women’s committee leader

group singing, accompanied
by Mrs. Richard Lefever,
“America The Beautiful.”
Mrs. Miller then presented
certificates from the
National Grange and pins
from Fulton Grange for
continuous membership to

WESTMINSTER, Md. -
Farmers in the northwest
section of Carroll County,
Md., can now receive up to 75
percent cost sharing for
installing measures to
control animal waste and
sediment pollution problems
under the new, experimental
Double Pipe Creek Rural
Clean Water Program.
Maryland was one of 13
states to have its application
for an RCWP project ap
proved and was among the
first three states to receive
funding. Congress approved
about $3.9 million to provide
technical and cost-sharing
assistance to farmers m the
area to clean up pollution
problems over the next 10
years.

ministered by the
Agricultural Stabilization
and Conservation Service
through farmer-elected
Carroll County ASC Com
mittee. Technical assistance
and other support is
provided by the, Soil Con
servation Service, Carroll
County Soil Conservation
District, Extension Service,
Maryland Department of
Health and Mental Hygiene,
and other interested groups

4-H dressage show held in Maryland
GAITHERSBURG, Md. -
The first Maryland State 4-H
Dressage Show was held
recently at the Potomac
Horse Center near here. The
purpose of the show was to
help 4-H horse club members
polish their skills in a
European style of , hor
semanship which is
becoming popular in the
United States.
Laura Brotzman, 17, of
Elkridge was the top per
former of the day, taking
both high score champion
and reserve champion
honors with her Morgan
horse, Meleah-Oz. The pair
also won first place in Open
Senior Training, Level HI,
and Open First, Level I.
In addition, Laura used a
different Morgan horse,
Statesman’s Mistress, to win
first in Open Senior
Training, Level I, and
second in Open Senior
Training, Level 111.

First Year Semor Training,
Level I, and placed third m
Maiden Senior Training,
Level I. She was riding
Small Wonder.
Miss Davida Dougherty of
Clarksburg (Montgomery
county) served as official
judge for the 4-H dressage
event.

exhibited an oil painting in
the art contest which will
compete in the State Grange
contest.
Thomas C. Galbreath,
master, presided at a short
business session and gave a
report of attending the
Young Mameds weekend at
Edgewater Acres.
The tour committee
reported the bus going to
Annapolis, IVld. October 1 is
full and they may also take a
van. They will leave
Quarryville at 7:15 a.m. and
Fulton Grange Hall at 7:45
a.m.

hold a joint meeting at
Lower Swatara Township
Building on route 4<l
Monday, September 29, 7:30
p.m. to which farmers are
invited. It will deal with the
effect of TMI on agricultural
land. New officers will be
installed at the next meeting
of Fulton Grange October 13.
