The Lecturer, Mrs. Howard W. Miller, Jr., was in charge of the special program which began with group singing, accompanied by Mrs. Richard Lefever, “America The Beautiful.” Mrs. Miller then presented certificates from the National Grange and pins from Fulton Grange for continuous membership to Cost sharing available to Carroll County farmers WESTMINSTER, Md. - Farmers in the northwest section of Carroll County, Md., can now receive up to 75 percent cost sharing for installing measures to control animal waste and sediment pollution problems under the new, experimental Double Pipe Creek Rural Clean Water Program. Maryland was one of 13 states to have its application for an RCWP project ap proved and was among the first three states to receive funding. Congress approved about $3.9 million to provide technical and cost-sharing assistance to farmers m the area to clean up pollution problems over the next 10 years. The program is ad-* ministered by the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service through farmer-elected Carroll County ASC Com mittee. The purpose of the show was to help 4-H horse club members polish their skills in a European style of , hor semanship which is becoming popular in the United States. Laura Brotzman, 17, of Elkridge was the top per former of the day, taking both high score champion and reserve champion honors with her Morgan horse, Meleah-Oz. The pair also won first place in Open Senior Training, Level HI, and Open First, Level I. It is a family fraternity and from its inception women were on a level with men. Women promote sewing and needlework contests in the Grange and ssist with the many other, activities such as working for the deaf. The Grange was the first organization to have a song book printed in sign language. They also offer scholarships - for workers with the deaf. Citing just a few examples of Grange community service, senior citizens and 'other community groups meet m Grange halls. Medical health centers have been started by Granges. Education has been fostered and talents promoted. Mrs. George Hough' exhibited an oil painting in the art contest which will compete in the State Grange contest. Thomas C.
