Central District FFA Dairy Show winners •
BEAVER SPRINGS -
The 25th annual Central
District Future Farmers of
America Dairy Show was
held on August 15, at the
Beaver Community Fan-
Grounds, Beaver Springs.
Participating this year in
the annual Dairy Show were
FFA Chapters from Mid
dleburg, West Snyder, Big
Valley, Selmsgrove,
Mahantango, State College,
Warriors Mark, Penns
Valley, Clearfield, Upper
Dauphin; Newport and
Miffhnburg.
All dairy animals were
broken into the different age
groups as governed by the
major Dairy Breeds; and
were placed with a Blue
Ribbon, Red Ribbon or
White Ribbon category. AH
Blue Ribbon winners were
eligible to show their dairy
animals at the Pennsylvania
Junior Dairy Show held on
September 22, 1980 at the
Farm Show Building m

was the reserve champion
mare. Mobberley also
placed m equitation and
performance classes.
A Bel-Air, Harford County
resident, 12-year-old Diane
Edwards, had the champion
gelding, Aymer County
Copper, An Arabian horse.
The pair was third in English
Pleasure.
The reserve champion
gelding was Dandy Tee. The
pony was shown by Valene
Wallace, 13, of Perryville,
Cecil County. They also
received a fifth-place ribbon
in Hunter Under Saddle for
large pomes

Dairy farmers supplying
milk plants regulated under
the New York-New Jersey
marketing orders during
July will be paid on the basis
of a uniform price of $12.48
per hundred pounds or 26 8
cents per quart.
Market Administrator
Thomas A Wilson, who
announced July’s prices,
also said the uniform farm
price was $11.92 per hun
dredweight in June 1980 and
$ 11.60 per hundredweight in
July 1979, The uniform price
is a marketwide weighted
average of the value of farm
milk used for fluid and
manufactured dairy
products.
The total amount of milk
received from the 17,570
dairy farmers supplying the
New York-New Jersey

Wilson explained this
included differentials
required to be paid to dairy
farmers but not voluntary
premiums or deductions
authorized by the farmer.
Regulated milk dealers
(handlers) utilized
360,765,142 pounds or 40.4
percent of the total amount
of milk for Class I. The Class
I milk is used for fluid milk
products such as
homogenized, flavored, low
test and skim milks. For
July 1980, handlers paid
$13.91 per hundredweight, or
29.9 cents per quart, for the
milk used m Class I products

59.6 percent, was used to
manufacture Class II
products including butter,
cheese, ice cream and
yogurt. For this milk the
handlers paid $11.76 per
hundredweight.
The uniform price is based
on milk containing 3.5
percent butterfat. For July
1980, a differential of 16.0
cents was applied to the
price for each one-tenth of
one percent that the milk
tested above or below the 3 5
percent standard.
All prices quoted are for
bulk tank with milk received
within the 201-210 mile zone
from New York City.
