totaled 78.3 million pounds,
down one percent from July
1979 according to the Penn
sylvania Crop Reporting
Service.
Cattle slaughter at 38,500
head was down two percent
while calf slaughter at 21,300
head was 15 percent more
than last year. Hog
slaughter at 252,900 head
increased six percent from a
year ago. The number of
sheep and lambs
slaughtered totaled 12,700,
down two percent from July
1979.
