This is only the second drop in Pennsylvania’s production since estimates began m 1967, and the second consecutive year of decline, according to the Penn sylvania Crop Reporting Service. Pennsylvania fresh market sales totaled 70.0 million pounds, up 14 per cent, while processed sales in the commonwealth declined by six percent to 143.7 million pounds. The sales value of fresh market mushrooms in Pennsylvania for the 1979-1980 season was $59.4 million compared to $54.6 million during the 1978- 1979 season. The sales value of processed mushrooms was $82.2 million compared to $98.3 million a year ago. Pennsylvania put 73.0 million square feet into production during the 1979- 1980 crop year, an increase of less than one percent compared to 72.7 million square feet a year ago. Intentions for 1980-1981 crop year are 69.0 million square feet, a decrease of six percent from this crop year.
