The 18-member board administers the egg research and promotion order authoirzed by the Egg Research and Consumer Information Act. The nominations, due Sept 1, are to fill upcoming vacames caused by the expiration of terms for nine members and their alter nates at the end of 1980. The new terms will be for calendar years 1981 and 1982. The current North Atlantic states members, whose terms will expire at the end of this year, are Emanuel Hirth, Manchester, Conn., and Maurice S. Cohen, alternate, Hollis Center, Maine; Norman J. Hecht, Walden, N.Y., and John A. Ricca, alternate, N. Billenca, Mass. These board members may be renominated, Bergland said. Under the terms of the act, members are eligible to serve three consecutive terms. Nominations are to be made by the 60 egg producer organizations, associations or cooperatives certified eligible by Bergland. Grange grants deaf education scholarships The Maryland State Grange has created a special new program to provide scholarships m the education of the deaf, and earlier this year formed the D~sf Scholarship Committee to administer this program. The formation of this scholarship program in the field of education of the deaf represents a continuation on the part of the Grange of its program of work with the deaf On August 5 the Deaf Scholarship Committee met to review applications for the 1900-1961 school year. A number of applications were reviewed and the Committee has selected two persons who will be awarded $5OO scholarships. Ann Witworth from Westminster, Maryland. Ms. Whitworth is a graduate student at Western Maryland College and is enrolled in the counseling program Ms. Whitworth, who is herself deaf and who has a young son enrolled in the Maryland school for the Deaf, hopes to earn a degree in guidance counseling in the spring of 1981. The Maryland State Grange plans to continue its program of providing scholarships in the field of education of the deaf.
