The 1981 calf sale will be held April 1, 1981 with the bred heifers going on the block on April 2. The All-American Show will begin September 25 this year. Classification for herds begins in September Over 900 eastern Pennsylvania herds will be classifying. Kauffman recommended farmers take the herd pedigree package and get the package price of $3 per head, saving $1 per cow. Transfer fees go from $5 to $lO a head starting January 1,1981, he noted. Pennsylvania will be getting an area office of the National Holstein Association. It probably will be located near Harrisburg with Mel Hertzler, former manager of Allen Dairy, as director. Area offices will be similar to the national office only will provide localized ser vice to farmers, Kauffman said.
