Society 1 Berks Society 1 held their July meeting at the home of Ruth Walters featuring a doggie roast for members and their families. An invitation was received to Group 9’s tenth an niversary on September 17. The committees were appointed for the annual Farm Women picnic which will be held Sunday, August 17 at 12 noon at Levengood’s Grove, R 2 Douglassville. The county convention will be held October 4 at the Vocational Agricultural Building, Bemville. Martha Levan will serve on the silent auction committee. The scrap books will be received at the September board meeting and judged by Group 8. The date for the Reading Fair is October 20- 25. The next meeting will be held at the home of Betty Wegman, R 1 Oley. The speaker will be Lori Haas of R 2 Douglassville. The Group conducted a box lunch auction. Mrs. Paul Brenneman presented the entertainment consisting of short quizes, recipes and ideas for daily living. The Group will have no August meeting. The Sep tember meeting will feature safety devices. Lancaster Co. Society 11 The annual picnic and meeting of Lancaster Society 11 was held on the lawn of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Brabson. Plans are underway for a quilt which the society is planning. The County picnic will be held August 6 at Lampeter. An anniversary luncheon will be held in August at Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church. Lancaster Co, Society 17 Lancaster Society 17 held a brunch at the home of Mrs. Jason Weaver, R 2 Quarryville recently. Roll call was answered with program suggestions for the coming year. A garage sale was planned for August 30, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Mrs. Weaver’s home. The next meeting will be Thursday, August 7 when husbands will be entertained with dinner at 6 p.m. at Hershey Farms Restaurant. The remainder of the evening will be spent at the Sight and Sound Auditorium. Lancaster Co, Society 19 Lancaster Society 19 and their families enjoyed a covered dish luncheon in the tea room at Landisville Camp Meeting Grounds this month. The Society will assist the League of Women Voters in distributing registration cards. A Savings Bond will be presented to a 4-H achiever in cooking and another to an achiever in sewing. On Tuesday, August 12, members will meet at Landisville Church of God at 6 p.m. to travel to Harrisburg State Hospital to provide entertainment and refreshments.
