Judges for the evening contest were; Mrs. Karen Laughman, R 2 Thomasville, former Dairy Prmcess Co ordinator, Dieter Kneg, Lititz; and James Sumner, Harrisburg, Director of the Bureau of Markets. These judges observed the contestants during in terviews, stage modeling and on their milk promotional presentations and scored them on poise and personality, originality, speaking ability, ap pearance, industry knowledge and intelligence. Scott Smith of Newburg, a popular broadcaster in Shippensburg, served as master of ceremonies. Miss Karen Hornbaker, 1979 Cumberland County Dairy Princess, during her Lancaster Farming, Saturday, June 28,1980—G17 last official appearance, thanked everyone for helping to make her year as Dairy Prmcess successful. Karen also crowned Miss Cornman as the new 1980 Dairy Prmcess. John Cope, member of the Dairy Prmcess Committee, made a special presentation m dedicating the 1980 Dairy Prmcess Contest to the life and memory of Paul Corn man, Carlisle. In special attendance was Lon Lucas, Miss Cum berland Valley and many past Dairy Princesses. They were: Lynda Gutshall Bear, 1969; Joyce Kelly, 1971; Sharon Bear Dentler, 1972; Leah Yorlets Toth, 1973; Maxine Garman Barrick, 1974; Debbie Nehf Miller, 1975; Peggy Staub, 1976; and Karen Smith, 1977. These girls represented eight of the 11 Princesses from 1968 to 1978. Escorts for the contestants were: Kevin Kendig, Tun Potteiger, Sam Glesner, Scott Foreman, Jerry Gorman, Nevm Shughart and Randy Yost.
