Berks Co, Society 5 Group 5 of Berks County held their June meeting, Monday in the kitchen area of the Willow Creek Animal Hospital, Leesport. The group was taken on a guided tour by Dons Rauenzahn, an employee of the hospital. She explamed what each room was used for and showed some of the animals that were recovering from operations. The group received an invitation from Group 9 to their 10th anniversary celebration on Sept. 17 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Douglassville. Pres. Moyer thanked Betty Wessner, Mary Darkes and Carolyn Feeg for helping at the Berks Heim Picnic. These ladies also visited then* adopted patient at the Heim, Alice Hoyer. The meeting for July will be a family picnic Sunday, July 20, at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Albert Moyer, Lebanon. Ham was selected for the meal with each member bringing a covered dish. Berks Co, Society 6 4-H Youth was the program for Berks Society 6 at the home of Sally Hauseman. Scott Hauseman shared his experiences in dairy cattle. The August meeting will be held on Thursday, August 7 at the home of Nora Sweitzer, Oley. It will be a family covered dish lunch and swimming party. A family picnic will be held on Sunday, August 24 at Darnel Boone Homestead, Birdsboro. The game committee is Mrs. Harold Snyder, Mrs. Roger Wagner, Mrs. Randall Hetrick and Mrs Earl Hoffman. Mrs. David Hauseman and Mrs. Steve Hetrick will set up for the picmc. Karen Reider a senior from Oley Valley High School won the Farm Women’s Group 6 award for the highest achievement in home economics.
