Ann BY SALLY BAIR Staff Correspondent BIGLERVILLE - Ann R Murren, 19, was selected as the 1960 Adams County Dairy Princess at ceremonies held Saturday evening at the Biglerville High School. The daughter of Mr and Mrs. Thomas Murren, Hanover R 4, Ann served last year as Alternate Adams County Dairy Princess. Ann was crowned by Christine Gitt, the retiring Dairy Princess. Sherri L. Murren Robert Kaltreider, York Springs R 2, was named alternate. After the announcement, Ann said she was “a little shocked, but very happy.” She said she feels her work as Alternate last year played a part in her winning the title Adams County’s Alternate attends the Dairy Princess Seminar along with the winner, and Ann says, “That’s a good idea.” She filled in for Chnssy Gitt at banquets and other events as necessary. If she can do a job she has every right to do it. On the farm, I am for women’s liberation.” Having grown up on a Guernsey farm and par ticipated in 4-H activities for 11 years, Ann said she feels there are many advantages to farm life. “You learn responsibility. You leam what you are supposed to do and when you are supposed to do it.” It was not Ann’s first win in a contest. She was selected as the Brushtown Fire queen for 1979-1980 and was second runner-up in the Miss Hanover competition Active in FFA, she was selected in 1979 as Adams and York Counties’ FFA Princess.
