June poultry conference LANCASTER - The 1980 Pennsylvania Poultry Conference on June 26 at the Host Corral in Lancaster will focus on the difficult economic situation as well as production, processing and marketing issues. The all-day conference open to everyone will hear noted economic columnist, Robert Metz of the New York Times, speak about the “State of the Economy” and distinguished publisher of the Poultry Tunes, John Yarbrough, speak about the “State of the Industry”. In addition, at the separate broiler, egg, and turkey conferences, John Pedersen of Poultry and Egg Fax of Stone Mountain, Georgia, will present a “Price and Production Outlook” for each commodity. Noncertified egg groups can change status LITITZ Assistant Secretary of Agriculture Bobby Smith said the Department of Agriculture soon will request nominations for new members of the American Egg Board and egg producer groups not already certified to nominate members may file requests for certification until July 1. Two-year terms for nine current board members and their-- alternates will expire at "die end of 1980. The conference begins at 9:30 a.m. (a continental breakfast is provided free up to 9:30 a.m.) and concludes at 4 p.m. A luncheon buffet is available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for $7. The Federation holds its Annual Banquet in the evening which is also open to all interested persons. The primary purpose of the Banquet is to announce the 1980 Broiler, Egg, and Turkey Industrymen of the Year and features a social hour, dinner, and en tertainment. The 18 member board administers the Egg Reserach and Promotion Order, which was authorized by the 1974 Egg Research and Consumer Information Act. Sixty organizations are certified by the Secretary of Agriculture as eligible to nominate members and alternates to the board.
