The 84-day ram tests, which were concluded on April 30, are sponsored by the Pa. Dept, of Agriculture, Penn State and the Pa. Sheep and Wool Growers Association. The fairgrounds site of the sale is located just off Rt. 6 between Wellsboro and Mansfield. The top listed rams for the various breeds participating m the performance tests conducted at the Meat Animal Evaluation Center include: Among five Dorsets, the ram, B. Zerby-33, owned by Brian Zerby, Rl, Knoxville, had an average daily gam of .89 lb. and a weight per day of age of .51 lb. In a field of 16 Suffolks, the top ram, Morgan 26, owned by Elizabeth Morgan, 1916 New Holland Pike, Lan Del. students form agronomy club NEWARK, Del. - Thirty University of Delaware students with a special in terest in agronomy have joined together to form a new student organization. The Delaware Agronomy Club will affiliate with the Student Section of the American Society of Agronomy The club was officially chartered on March 26,1980, after 14 Delaware students attended a Regional Agronomy Club Conference at Purdue University, March 21-23. Among six Hampshires, the top ram, Carolair 142, owned by Carolair Farm, R 1 Knoxville, had an average daily weight gam of 1.06 lb. and a weight per day of age of 641 b. For the second time since the beginning of the Ram Performance Tests, a Cochranville breeder had the highest indexing Shropshire ram. Warn Menhennett’s ram 662 topped the Shrops with an average daily gam of .99 lb. and a weight per day of age of .59 lb. Ran 662 is a triplet. According to Menhennett, of Rl Cochranville, the dam is the highest indexing ewe m his flock of purbred house sponsored by the various student groups within the University of Delaware’s College of Agricultural Sciences.
