ARENDTSVILLE - Lake
spring snow, the white of
apple blossoms blanketed
the orchards of Adams
County last Sunday,
decorating trees and
promising an abundance of
fruit.

of the apple pie baking contest. Auctioneer C. David
Redding sold her pie for a tidy $l2.

There was the traditional
odor of barbecued chicken
floating over the South
Mountain Fairgrounds along
the Conewago Creek and the
sticky-lipped smiles of the
youngsters enjoying their
eats.
The ‘scrunch’ of apples
could be heard throughout
the Fairground, ac

cider sold by the county
fruitgrowers’ association.
The South , Mountain

apple blossom festival. But
the beauty of the occasion
was to be found in the
countryside along the Apple
Blossom Trail.
Thousands of cars and
buses wound their ways
slowly through the hills
around Arendtsville,
BiglerviUe, Idaville, Gard

towns whose names are
synonymous with the apple
industry in Pennsylvania.
There was spectacle
