Nicholas Moehlmann; Beth Shiner, Myerstown; and Senator Clarence Manbeck. 4-H State Capital Days p*He ¥ -- HARRISBUKG - Young adults from the Com monwealth’s 67 counties took the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of the functions of state govern ment recently during 4-H State Capital Days activities here. While in Harrisburg they joined with 4-H members from across the state to learn more about the operations of the govern ment and to discuss citizenship projects that will help strengthen local 4-H programming. While in Harrisburg, they received a guided tour of the State Capitol Building, visited their local legislators in their offices, and par ticipated in educational workshops geared to in crease their understanding of the legislative process. iger They visited one of the state agencies and were guests of their county delegates at a legislative breakfast. Frank Bortz, 4-H specialist with Penn State points out that State 4-H Capital Days is one of the highlights of the 4-H citizenship program. Seven Lancaster County youths were part of the program. Those taking part were Joann Brenneman, Mt. Joy; Roger Garber, Mt. Joy; Hal Enders, Mountville; Crystal Meek, Refton; Sue Howell, New Holland; Ken Beck, Ephrata and Laurie Sweigart, Ephrata. Two 4-H’ers from Lebanon County participated in the event. They were: Greg AUwein, Lebanon and Beth Ann Shiner, Myerstown. From Berks County, six members participated. They were: Steve Imes, Fleet wood; Cormna Moyer, Rehrersburg; Danielle Yoder, Hamburg; Jayne Malsbury, Rehrersburg and Barbara Schroeder, Kutz town. The three representatives from Bucks County were: Tom Reynolds, Richboro; John Burke, Churchville and Elliott Franklin, Chalfont. Schuylkill also had three representatives: Daryl Dissinger, Schuylkill Haven; Denise Carl, Saint Clair and John Williams, New Ringgold. Montgomery County youth attending the activities were; Joe Angelo, Gwynedd Valley; Jeanne Underland, Philadelphia; Beverly Jones, CoUegevdle; David Anderson, Hendricks; and Coleen Kinsky, Lansdale. Speaker at the legislative breakfast held for the youth was Arthur Nesbitt, president of NASCO In ternational, Inc. and national 4-H alumni winner.
