Receiving a larger than anticipated share of the coveted awards was Penny Bicksler, Richland Rd. The daughter of Mr and Mrs. Elay Bicksler, Richland, Penny was presented with the Star Chapter Farmer degree, and DeKalb Award. She also received a silver medal and trophy for dairy judging accomplishments and a stick pm from the chapter. Penny is the treasurer of the Tulpehocken FFA. Star Greenhand was Barry Zegler, president and Star Agribusinessman, left; Penny Bicksler, Richland - Star Chapter Farmer; and William Lesher, Bernville, Star Chapter Greenhand were honored at Tulpehocken FFA. Other awards were presented as follows Salesmanship and public speaking - Laura Miller, Bemville; Public speaking - Ray Hershey, Bethel; farm mechanics - Gary Parker, Bemville; State Project Book Gold Medals - Chris Koffman, Rehrersburg, and Ronald Swope, Bemville. FFA locks were presented to freshman girls by the chapter. Recipients were. Dawn Bicksler, Donna Stump, and Kelli LaFollette, all of Bemville. An FFA stick pm was also presented to Laura Miller for her services to the chapter State Secretary, Kathy Jones, of the Philadelphia FFA Chapter, and State Eastern-Regional Vice-Pre sident Daryl Schafer ad dressed the local FFA members Honorary Degrees were bestowed upon Nancy Long, Bemville; and Ed Crim, math teacher, also of Bem ville.
