MANHEIM At a recent meeting of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Heifer Project Committee four projects were approved for the Spring and Summer efforts of committee members and the growing corps of church and individual contributors. Heifer Project Committee also plans to send six heifers to the Col-O- Cal cooperative at Camden, AR., to expand a five-year successful heifer “chain” that is in harmony with Heifer Project’s “passing on the gift” idea. This Summer 120 crossbred gilts and 12 purebred boars will be collected under the leadership of Barry Haldeman, Mark Nestleroth, and John Chapman to send to eleven “Black Belt” counties in south-central Alabama. They will be a contribution to a highly successful service program supported by HPI among the small and part-time farmers of the area. Funds in support of these projects may be sent to Clifford Gibble, local Heifer Project treasurer, at 320 W. Gramby Street, Manheim, or to the HPI regional office at Box 188, New Wmdsor, MD 21776.
