DS-Uncaster Fanning, Saturday, March 29,1950 Virginville 4-H big winner at Berks dairy banquet BY LAUREL SCHAEFF Staff Correspondent BERNVILLE, Pa. - Members of the Virginville 4-H Dairy Club took home the majority of the awards presented last Friday at the Berks County 4-H Dairy Banquet held at the Bem ville Grange Hall, here. Awards were presented to individuals for county project books and blue forms m six age group categories. Of these twelve awards, Virginville 4-H Dairy Club members received a total of seven. The project books were judged on records, neatness, story and par ticipation of the 4-H mem bers submitting them. Criteria for selection of Blue Form winners included involvement in 4-H clubs, number of projects taken, leadership, county and state 4-H activities and the member’s 4-H story. Winning the project book contest were; 8-9 year olds - Michele Christman - Nor thern Berks 4-H Club; 10-11 year olds - Ginger Dietnch, Virginville; 12-13 year olds - Kan Bitting, Virginville; 14- 15 year olds - Todd Miller, Virginville; 16-17 year olds - Gary Kurtz, Eastern Berks; 18-19 year olds - Cheryl Adam, Virginville. Blue Form Winners were; 8-9 year olds - Brian Blatt, Virgmville; 10-11 year olds - Tammy Miller, Virgmville; 12-13 year olds - Patty Dreisbach, Northern Berks; 14-15 year olds - Connie Ohlmger, Northern Berks; 16-17 year olds - Allan Rohrbach, Virgmville; 18-19 year olds - Karen Sattazahn, Stouchsburg. Winning the contest was Northern Berks while Eastern Berks took second place. Members of the winning team were: Harold Dietnch, Patti Dreisbach, Connie Ohlmger, and Kathy Ohlmger. The second placed team consisted of: Jim Younker. Bill Zol'ers, Bruce Latshaw, and Ronald Kurtz. Also recognized for their achievements in 1979 ac tivities were judging teams and county dairy bowl members. Members of the State 4-H Dairy Judging Championship team were: Kevin Sattazahn, R 1 Womelsdorf; Helen Seidel, R 1 Kutztown; Wendy and Steve Shaw, R 2 Oley. Steve was also named the top 4-H dairy judge m the state contest. Coaching the team was David Schuler, and Sue Seidel, both of R 1 Kutztown. The county dairy judging team which placed fifth at the AH American Dairy Show included: Penny Bicksler, R 1 Richland; Patty Dreisbach, R 2 Hamburg; Scott Miller, R 2 Hamburg; and Debbie Stumy, R 3 Bernville. Charles Seidel, R 1 Lenhartsville, placed sth in individual competition and Harold Dietrich, R 1 Ham burg, placed 10th. County Dairy Bowl team members were: Ronald Keiffer, R 2 Hamburg; Karen Sattazahn, R 1 Womelsdorf; Richard Savidge, R 2 Mertztown; and Bill Zollers, R 1 Mertztown. Coaching the team was Bill Zollers, Sr., Mertztow™ Clyde Myeys, Berks AGWAY County Extension Agent recognized the following 4-H club leaders: David Hauseman, R 4 Boyertown; Mane Herbert, R 1 Kutz town; Norman Kurtz, R 4 Fleetwood; and William Zollers, all of Eastern Berks Dairy Club.
