Leaner year predicted at meeting
BY JANE BRESEE
Staff Correspondent
WYSOX “Farmers may
have a leaner year finan
cially in 1980,” predicted
Robert Reick, general
manager at the Lewisburg
office of the Production
Credit and Federal Land
Bank Associations.
Reick, the mam speaker at
the annual meeting of the
Northeastern Farm Credit
Service in Wysox, told the
150 farmer members present
that higher costs of energy,
chemicals, interest rates,
etc. would be a continuing
challenge to their
management skills.
Paul Sims of Bradford
County, chairman of the
joint boards of the
Production Credit and Land
Bank Associations con
ducted the meeting. He
introduced prospective
board members as follows.
S. Richard Moyer of Union
County, versus Donald G.
Cotner, Sr.; and Lee Shaffer,
Snyder County versus
Mervin B. Nissley, Union
County; for a term of 3 years
in the Northeastern
Production Credit
Association.
Voting on board members
will continue at two more
annual meetings in the
northeast region after which
votes will be talked, Mr.
Sims explained.
Ronald Byrd from the
Federal Land Bank office in
Virginia spoke briefly to
