Franklin County FFA members receive awards BY RUTH ANN BENEDICT Staff Correspondent NEW FRANKLIN - Approximately 110 FFA members, families, teachers, and friends at tended the Annual Franklin County FFA Banquet held at the New Franklin Fire Hall on Thursday, February 21, 1980. Micah Meyers, Green castle, won the County Dairy Judging Award sponsored by the Franklin County Holstein Association. The dairy judging contest was held during the Franklin County Fair last August. Larry Price, Fan nettsburg, won the County Land Judging Award sponsored by Agronomy, Inc., Mercersburg. Gaining the Best Guernsey Project Award was Jeffrey Students admitted for Fall & Spring Semesters . The Franklin County Guernsey Breeders sponsored the award. The John Johnston Memorial Award, sponsored by Phillip Seeds, Mer cersburg, was presented to Gene Helman of Mont Alto. The Blue Ridge FFA Chapter was the recipient of the Best Large School Award. Other Chapters Franklin County FFA Farmer Degree recipients for 1979 are from left: Jesse Reichard, Waynesboro; Gwen A. Kennedy, Greencastle; William Stoner, St. Thomas; Herbie Eaton, Doylesburg; and Robert Shank, Waynesboro. Missing from the picture are: Gerald Reichard, Douglas Fahrney, both of Waynesboro; Larry D. Rosenberry, R 3 Shippensburg; Ronald Holtry, Newburg; and Eric Krieger, Chambersburg. These members were recognized at the Franklin County FFA Banquet recently. my 12 to 55 HP Lancaster l-arming, baturoay, march B, ISWU—CII contending for the award were the Chambersburg FFA Chapter and the Conococheague FFA Chapter. Path Valley FFA Chapter was the recipient of the Best Small School Award. The Greencastle FFA Chapter was also a contender for the award. Joseph Clarr, Cham bersburg, was presented an award for serving as past advisor to the county FFA V group. Clarr is a Vo-Ag in structor at the Cham bersburg Senior High School. Star County Farmer for 1980 went to Dwight Stull of Waynesboro, and Star County Agri. Businessman for 1980 went to Paul Snider of Williamson. (Turn to Page Cl 2)
