CB—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, February 16,1980 Borne On The Range 1 tablespoon sugar 1 cup flour Vi cup plus 1 tablespoon butter or margarine 1 envelope Dream Whip 1 cup powdered sugar 18-ounce package cream cheese Blend and pat into 9”z9” pan, sugar, flour, and butter or margarine. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Beat 1 envelop Dream Whip according to package directions. In separate bowl, beat the sugar and cream cheese. Blend the cheese mixture and the whipped topping and spread on cooled pastry. Chill. Spread cherry pie filling on top. Cut in squares. 1% cup flour 2 teaspoons baking powder % teapoonssalt ftcupCrisco 1 cup sugar legg % cup milk 2 cups cherries, drained, reserving liquid % cup chopped nuts Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add shor tening, sugar, egg and milk, beat well. Add cherries to batter, reserving liquid for sauce. Add nuts. Mix well and bake in an 8-inch square pan for 35 to 40 minutes at 375 degrees. When cool, cut into squares and serve with Hot Cherry Sauce. HOT CHERRY SAUCE cup sugar 2 tablespoons cornstarch 1 cup boiling water % cup cherry juice. Mix sugar, cornstarch, water and cherry juice. President Barbara Kintzer announced that the County Hoedown will be held April 19; the Spring Rally is May 1; and Society 1 will celebrate its 40th an niversary on April 30. Several members reported on a visit to the Society’s adopted Berks Heim member and expressed her thanks for Christmas gifts. Berks Heim games night will be held April 17 and Berks Heim Tea will be held May 17. The membership ap proved the purchase of sheets and towels for two Bemville families whose homes were destroyed by fire. There was a report on the state convention by several members.
