Ephrata Area Young Farmers present achievement awards MOUNT AIRY - The Ephrata Area Young Far mers Association honored outstanding members and installed officers at its an nual banquet meeting Saturday night. In addition, several guest speakers gave short talks and a program by a Lan caster Scuba diver rounded out the evening. The Club's dairy herd improvement award went to out-going club President Dan W. Fox. He boosted his milk output by 2162 pounds milk and 74 pounds but terfat. Fox’s herd average stands at 16,334 pounds milk and 639 fat. Award for top herd average went to Russel Kline with a DHIA average of 17,477 pounds milk, 658 fat. Top butterfat producer, with an output of 1160 pounds, belongs to David D. Zimmerman. She also made 17,481 pounds milk in 305 days. Top cow for milk production in the EYAFA contest belongs to Paul E. Horning. She produced 23,524 pounds milk and 1027 pounds fat in a 305 day record. Luke Ray Zimmerman was named the outstanding poultryman of the Association He produces broilers in a two story house with a capacity for 37,000 birds. The large beef operation of Earl G. Martin was cited for Outstanding Beef Produc tion. Martin has 350 head on a total slat and liquid manure setup. He feeds a total of 580 head Outstanding Swine Producer for 1979 went to Walter Augsburger His operation has a capacity of 1200 hogs.
