It was easy to identify this winning family because they all wore red and white checked gingham shirts. In the female division, the AUebach’s Buckeye Patricia took the grand champion title, with Windermere’s Donna taking reserve. The Allebach’s also exhibited the reserve grand champion stallion, Abraham Win dermere’s Ross. The Allebach’s other championships included senior champion mare, junior champion mare, reserve junior champion and reserve junior wmpion stallion. Harry J. This is the fourth year Wright has shown his Per cherons, although he has raised the horses for eight years. His big win this year is his first grand cham pionship. Last year he won the reserve honors The Wrights’ Percherons are not only show animals. They are used to do light farm work, according to Wright, like hay-making and hauling manure. He explained his mterest in Percheron horses came from his childhood. His father raised them, and he got “’stuck with them”. Wright does most of the training on the big horses, but he gets a lot of help at Farm Show tune from his sons, Dave, Norman and Wendall, and three of his grandchildren. In the Clydesdale com petition, the Johnston’s of New Alexandria, West moreland County, cleaned house. They captured seven championships. Edward Johnston’s Bell’s Classic Lad was awarded the grand championship in the stallion competition. In the female classes, Collesie Celia was tagged the grand champion mare and John ston Kay was named reserve. Other championships won by the Johnston family in cluded senior champion stallion, senior champion mare, junior champion mare and reserve champion mare. In showmanship com petition, Lmda Johnston came in second to Darren Wright m the second annual Farm Show event. Third place went to Gerald Allebach, Spring Mills. Contestants were given 30 minutes m the show ring to groom, fit, and present their horses to the judge. SM.
