A4o—Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, January 12,1980 HARRISBURG - Julie Kuzemchak of Pleasant Gap, Centre County, has traveled to the Farm Show for three consecutive years. Each year she has returned home with the grand championship of the market lambs. This year, Juhe topped her own record, showing both the champion and reserve champion market lamb. Julie contributes her successful championships to “a lot of prayers.” The grand champion, a Suffolk, was purchased from Ned Kocher of Summerdale Farms in Wellsboro. The reserve champion was a Hampshire. Clyde Brubaker of Lancaster presented Kuzemchak a special Hampshire plague. She exhibited the highest placing Hampshire of the Show. George Wilson, 4th, of R 4 Lebanon, exhibited the grand champion Charolais, “SMR Diamond Lassy 870.” George is a first year member of the Little Dut chman Annville FFA Chapter. The champion, SHR Diamond Lassy, was a summer yearling heifer. Reserve champion Charolais, “SMR Candice 824,” was shown by Janice Kaylor of Elizabethtown, Dauphin County. Julie is a member of the Centre Co. 4-H Beef and Sheep Club. Her brother, Scott Kuzemchak, earned the reserve championship of the lightweight class. Mindy Brand of Cumberland County took the lightweight Julie Kuzemchak of Pleasant Gap exhibited the grand champion market lamb for the third con secutive year. Four Lancaster County youths took top placmgs in the middle and light heavyweight divisions. Christian R. Herr of R 2 Narvon exhibited the mediumweight champion and James Stauffer took the reserve honors. In the light heavyweight competition, Sarah Brubaker showed the champion while Barbara Herr took the reserve honors. David Lytle, a veteran showman, was named the grand champion showman. He is the 18 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lytle of New London. This was Lytle’s last year of junior exhibiting at the Farm Show. Billy MacCauley of Atglen was the champion showman in the 12-14 age group. Barbara Rohrer earned the championship of the 11 years old and younger exhibitors.
