Tuesday morning’s Spotted Swine sale brought a small surprise to Spotted Swine exhibitors. The champion, bought by Kevin Brown of R 1 Klmgerstown, was over bid by another Lazarus Brothers gilt, a February gilt. The high selling February gilt. Big Pistol, was pur chased by Wendell McKissick of R 3 Slippery Rock for $560. McKissick was looking to buy a bred gilt of a different blood line. He is hopmg to get a boar from the Big Pistol Utter for use in the next years shows. McKissick and his sons show in 13 county fairs m the Western region of the state. He has shown at the State Farm Show for the past 31 years. “Many people have come and - gone in that tune,” commented McKissick. The family maintains 35 herd sows in three different breeds. They also milk a 35 cow dairy herd. Kevin Brown, the new owner of the *l9BO Grand Champin bred gilt, bought the champion because he wants to bring a champ back to next year’s show. He paid $525. Brown maintains a 30 sow, 6 boar breeding herd. He sells a majority of his off spring as feeders, and keeps some purebreds.
