Delaware Department of Agriculture received a petition to initiate a com modity development referendum for soybeans on December 28. While accepting the petition, Secretary Hopkins explained that this request for a referendum reflects changing attitudes in the agricultural community. If established, the referendum would allow local soybean producers to collect money from them selves for predetermined struction job, factory or warehouse. Operation is smooth and easy. The next step in the referendum process is for Secretary Hopkins to choose a nominating committee of five persons. This nominating com mittee will select the can didates for the first soybean advisory board. The soybean advisory board then drafts the soybean development order. It is the development order that specifies how much money will be collected and how the money will be used.
