A Greenhand and Chapter fanner, Tim was an FFA student advisor in 1978 and last year served as sentinal. Besides his involvement with the FFA, Tim is also very active with the local 4- H. He is currently serving as president of the 4-H Swine Club, as he did m 1977. In the past, he also served as treasurer and vice-president of the Swine Club. Tim enjoys fishing and hunting. Another of his favorite hobbies is working on cars. Tim Wessner JAMES F. TRETTER Lehigh County Vo-Tech James F. Tretter, son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Tretter Sr., of 2007 Second Ave., Whitehall, has earned the Keystone Farmer Degree for his two years of activity with the Lehigh County FFA Chapter. This seventeen year old FFA member has completed projects with market hogs, breeding swine, home garden, feeder lambs, feeder steer, com, oats, home improvement and rabbits. Jim has served as a member of the Farm and Home Show committee, the budget committee, the parent-member banquet committee and the exhibit committee. He also served as chairman of the orange sale and leadership com mittees. Jim’s list of FFA awards is long, including Iviestock judging (gold), public speaking (gold), parliamentary speaking (gold), creed contest (gold), and quiz bowl (silver). He received the Greenhand degree in 1977 and Chapter Farmer degree the following year. His hobbies include livestock judging, showmanship and fitting. Jim, who is active m the 4- H steer and lamb clubs, also serves as a member of the Student Council and a PAFC alternate. His plans for the future are to attend college. CONNIE M. SHOEMAKER Lehigh County Vo-Tech Connie Shoemaker is the 17 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Shoemaker, R 2 Orefield. At the present tune, Connie is participating in the cooperative work experience project at Phoebe Floral Shop, Allentown. She is president of the Lebanon County Vo-Tech’s student council and has been listed among the Who’s Who in America’s High School Students. She has also been nominated for the Daughter’s of American Revolution state award. Connie has worked on a cooperative basis at Shoemaker’s Orchard, which is managed by her father. In the future, Connie hopes to attend college although her major is undecided. INCREASE PRODUCTION Name Perry County RICHARD TROUT Newport High School Seventeen year old Richard Trout, son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Trout, of R 3 Newport, has been chosen to receive the 1980 Keystone Farmer Degree. In his four years with the Newport FFA Chapter, Richard has served in various positions of leadership. He is currently serving as President; last year he was vice president and the previous year, he was named Star Greenhand. Richard Trout Richard’s current FFA project include raising seven acres of com, five acres of wheat, six acres of barley, seven acres of oats, fifteen acres of soybeans and two hogs. Richard is a member of the Dairy Foods Committee, the Summer Field Trip committee and is a speaker for the Banquet Committee. During his FFA career, he has participated in such contests as Dairy Foods, county and state; Soil Judging, county; Tractor Driving, county; Parliamentary Procedure, area and regional; and the Cumberland-Perry Co-op Council one-day institute.
