Beam exhibits second Chester County champion £ WEST CHESTER - For the first time in many years the Chester County 4-H Baby Beef Club members found a warm sunny morning greeting them for their an nual roundup. Approximately 28 steers were shown with the title of grand champion going to the first place heavyweight steer exhibited by Nelson Beam of Elverson The Simmental-Angus cross weighed in at 1290 lbs. and was purchased by Nelson and his father in Virginia. Along with this Nelson was also the cham pion senior showman and was presented an engraved silver tray donated by Robinsor, owner of crebilly Farms where the show was held. In August, Nelson was also the proud exhibitor of the ••grand champion market hog "and was the grand champion showman at the 4-H Swine Show and Sale, quite an ac complishment for a 4-H’er in one years tune! Nelson is the son of Mr & Mrs. Omar Beam, a commercial swine producer in Elverson The reserve grand cham pion, an Angus-Simmental cross, was owned and shown by Kenny Walker of West Chester Kenny, son of Mr & Mrs Paul Walker, is a four year member of the Beef Club. His brother, Jeff, was champion junior showman. Champion First Year Showman was Tiffany Rohrer who also exhibited the first place light heavyweight steer The first place mediumweight steer was exhibited by Ed Wylie of Nottingham In the breeding show, Gor don Smith, son of Mr. & Mrs. Howard Smith of Landenberg, exhibited the grand champion Charolais heifer and Patty Maniscalco of West Chester exhibited the grand champion Polled Hereford heifer. Judge for the show was Les Wagoner.
