t Andy Haas takes four Berks beef club awards By LAUREL SCHAEFFER Staff Correspondent KUTZTOWN - Climaxing a year of 4-H activities, the Berks County 4-H Baby Beef Club gathered at the Kutz town Grange Hall, here, on November 3 to honor its outstanding achievers. Receiving four of the eleven awards presented was eleven year old Andy Haas. Andy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Haas, Douglasville. Having only shown in 4-H for two years, this young man has much to be proud of. He was awarded a silver plate for exhibiting his Angus cross steer to earn reserve grand champion honors at the county round up, held several weeks earlier. Other awards in cluded two plaques, one for winning the showmanship contest for 8-] 1 year old 4-H members, and the other for the most weight gamed since last December. Andy also received a pen and pencil set for giving the best reports for a junior member during the beef meetmgs. Receiving a silver plate for showing the grand champion steer at the county Round-up was, Kirk Fisher, 13. Kirk is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Fisher, Oley. Clyde Myers, Berks County Extension Agent announced that six members are planning to take their steers to the Farm Show, January 6th to 11th. These members are: Kent Fisher, Sarah Hoffman, Mike Ranck, Rodney Reichard, Mike Strause, and Ron Suthff.
