By LAUREL SCHAEFFER Staff Correspondent ALLENTOWN - Sweeping the highest honors of the 39th Eastern Pennsylvania 4*H Beef and Lamb Show and Sale were three Lehigh County youths. The two day event was held this year at the Allentown Fair Grounds, November 9 and 10. The annual show, dating back to 1941 had 89 par ticipants registered from six eastern Pennsylvania Counties. These counties were: Bucks, Carbon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton and Schuylkill. Receiving the banner for exhibiting the grand champion steer was Diane Krause, Slatington. The 16 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Krause, Diane showed an Angus-Simmental cross weighing 1,290 pounds. This exhibitor also won these same honors in 1975 while her older sister, Carol, 18, won the grand champion honors in 1974 and 1977. The Krause’s have another member of their family also showing steers. This is nine year old Debra showing for the first time this year. Exhibiting the grand champion market iamb was 12 year old Joshua Grim, Breinigsville. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Grim, this young exhibitor has been showing sheep in 4-H for four years. He is a seventh grade student in the Parkland School District. The Grim’s raise polled Dorsets and presently have a small flock of about ten sheep. The grand champion was a Dorset-Suff oik cross weighing 120 pounds. Last year Ruth won the grand champion title with her pair of lambs. i j UNIPt L Hi , US P i O't Winning the title for Best Pair of Lambs this year was 18 year old Gail Snyder, New Tnploi. Gail is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Snyder. She is attending Penn State University as a sophomore studying animal production. Gail’s entries were Hampshire-Dorset crosses. Last year this exhibitor received the honors for her market lamb and in 1976 she was awarded the champion honors for 4-H pen of lambs. Showing the reserve (Turn to Page 112)
