—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 10,1979 18 HARRISBURG - Stiff competition remained throughout the day at the sheep show on Saturday November 3 at the Keystone International Livestock Exposition. The Hampshire, Shropshire, Southdown, and Suffolk breeds were shown. In the Hampshire division, Albert Wilson Jr. from Rural Retreat, Virginia dominated most of the classes. He took the champion ram, reserve champion ram, and champion ewe honors. Mary and Rebecca Hope from Knoxville, Maryland captured the reserve champion ewe title. Steward Ebersold and son, York, placed fifth and sixth in this fall ewe iamb class and had the seventh place fhscL. In the Shropshire classes. Shober and Calvert Farms, Berlin, bad the first place yearling ram while Wey Shropshires stood second. Champion ram honors went to Fred Heaton and family, Ohio and the reserve title was won by Shober and Calvert Farms with their yearling ram. Wey Shropshires, Kutz town, captured first place in the yearling ewe class. They later bad both the champion and reserve champion ewes. Shober and Calvert Farms placed second in both the pen of three ewe lambs and the exhibitors flock. Wey Shropshires took the first place exhibitors flock. W. G. Carpenter and son had a good day and dominated the Southdown division; taking nine blue ribbons out of eleven. They captured the champion ram title with a yearling, and took both champion and reserve ewe titles. Gerald Rohrer, Quarryville, took third place with his South down ram lamb. Windswept Farms, State College, placed third in the pen of three yearling ewes and took fourth place honors in both the pen of three ram lambs and pen of three ewe lambs. The Suffolk competition concluded the breed com petition on Saturday. Narrow Lanes farm, Ohio, captured the champion ram title while reserve went to Ocean State Suffolks, Rhode Island. Troy Ness, York County, placed third in the pen of three ram lambs. Penn State University placed first and fifth in the yearling ewe class. They took a first in the pen of three yearling ewes. Champion ewe honors were captured by Doreen Fitzpatrick with a spring Wey Shropshires, Kutztown, swept the ewe competition In the Shropshire classes at the Keystone International last Saturday.
