Game Commission establishes
HARRISBURG - At a
recent meeting of the
Pennsylvania Game
Comission a (2,500 gift from
the Upper Providence Fish,
Game and Forestry
Association, near
Norristown, Montgomery
County was accepted.
The sportsmen’s group is
disbanding and making
distribution of its assets.
In other action, the
Commission adopted a new
rate schedule to be followed
in state game lands right-of
way licensing procedures.
It also adopted uniform
rules and regulations for all
lands leased from the
federal government. The
rules are similar to those
which govern users of state
game lands.

At the recent Star Rock Farms Dispersal, 519 cows and heifers averaged
$1,828.00. Of the 519 head sold, 118 were sired by ABS bulls (including
23 grades). They averaged $1,950.00. 401 head sold, sired by bulls other
than ABS (including 32 grades). They averaged $1,789.00. A difference of
$171.00 more per head for ABS sired cattle. In addition the top 3 were
sired by ABS bulls and 15 of the top 20 were by ABS sires.

The Game Commission
established a propagation
area around the perimeter of
House Island, also known as
Rookery Island, for the
protection of nesting
shorebirds and wading
birds.
The island, about 43 acres
in size, is one of a group in
the Susquehanna River in
the Washington Boro Flats,
part of Lake Clarke above
the Safe Harbor Dam.
The propagation area will
be closed to public access
only during the period
March 1 to July 31.
And the Commission
approved the acquisition of
3,086 acres of land in Bed
ford, Lancaster, Lebanon,
Perry and Wayne Counties.
