16 —Uncaster Farming, Saturday, September 29,1979 Heffners take By LAUREL SCHAEFFER Staff Correspondent OLEY - Taking a "Scant portion of the livestock awards home from the Oley Fair this year was a brother and sister, showing in the beef and sheep divisions. Ronald Heffner, 16 of Fleetwood was named grand champion in the market steer show while his younger sister, Elaine, 14, won the champion showmanship and fitting of the sheep show. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Heffner, both Elaine and Ronald are in tenth grade, Elaine at Fleetwood while her brother attends Oley Valley where he is enrolled in Vocational Agriculture. Enjoying the limelight of the swine show was eleven year old Greg Strieker. Greg is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Strieker, RDI Bern ville. He shows both beef and hogs in 4-H and attends sixth grade in the Hamburg Area School District. This year Greg was awarded Grand Champion Market Hog honors as well as placing Elaine Heffner of Fleetwood earned the champion showman and fitter awards in the Oley Farm sheep competition. first in the Fitting com petition.
