Omaha Cattle Septembers?, 1979 Closing prices on slaughter steers were 1.75- 2.00 lower, instances 2.25- 2.50 off previous midweek high time. Heifers wsere mostly 1.50 lower. Cows closed steady to 50 cents lower, and bulls firm. Limited sales of two-way feeder steers were 1.00-1.50 lower. Four day receipts Last week Yearago The normal bullish factors of modest marketings and small packer inventories were unable to offset the effects of a bearish slow moving carcass trade through midweek. Buyers came into the week in need of cattle for close-up requirements, but most interests were still cautious and selective with demand usually confined to minimum needs. Cattle slaughter ran well below a year ago, but pork production was substantially increased. There was mild interest by feeder buyers for 950-1050 lb. two-way steers suitable for a short term in the feedlot. Slaughter steers made up approximately 37 pet. and heifers 26 pet., a fair percentage choice mcluded. Cows made up 11 pet. and feeders 22 pet.
