It wasn’t until this year that she finished in the top 10 in the annual Montgomery county 4-H Fashion Revue. Besides sewing, Colleen has been enrolled in junior leadership, foods and nutrition, consumer judging, photography, crafts, and horse and pony 4-H projects. She had previously placed high at the Maryland State Fair in both 4-H consumer judging and in performance classes of the 4-H horse and pony show, involving jumping over fences. A recent graduate from Holy Cross Academy, she plans to attend the University of Scranton where she will be a pre medical student. In her state fair entry, Colleen wrote that “Fashion is very important to me because I want to feel good about myself and my ap pearance.” She added that fashion had helped her to meet people, and her work at the fabric store has helped her to earn money for college. Linda Rudy also modeled a suit and blouse in the 4-H Fashion Revue at the Maryland State Fair to earn runnerup honors. She served during the past school year of the Woodward and Lothnip Fashion Teen Board in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. A high school senior, she hopes to attend college and major in home economics or fashion merchandising. Placing third in the state 4- H Fashion Revue this year was Kathy Oles, 19, of Florence (Howard county). She modeled a four-piece blue ski ensemble. Glori Stifler, 17, of Glen Arm (Baltimore county) was fourth with a wool and polyester pantsuit. Karen L. Ricketts, 16, of Myersrille (Frederick county) placed fifth. She wore a cotton and polyester pantsuit. Five special awards are given to contestants in the state 4-H Fashion Revue, based on selections by the participants themselves.
