—Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, June 30,1979 16 Trade pact legislation supported WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Council of Farmer Cooperatives recently an nounced its strong supports for a landmark trade bill, The Trade Agreements Act of 1979, introduced in Congress. - The bill would implement U.S. rights and obligations under agreement reached by nations representing over 90 per cent of world commerce during recent multilateral trade negotations in Geneva, Switzerland. In a letter to members of Congress, NCFC President Leadership Council delegates to the annual 4-H Leadership Congress held June 25 to 28 at Penn State, check program responsibilities with Carroll L. The Leadership Council, consisting of 54 outstanding 4-H members, was the ruling body for the 1,200 young adults who attended the four-day educational conference. The 4-H Congress was designed to increase skills in leadership and citizenship. Naden praised prompt endorsement of the bill by the House Ways & Means Committee, and called for its early passage. The bill has, in effect, been under consideration by the Senate Finance Committee and House Ways & Means Committees since the agreements were signed by GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) nation in Geneva on April 12.
