Chicken Cook-Off FREDERICKSBURG Chicken m Chicken Liver Sauce prepared by Jo Ann Dunlevy of Lancaster, was declared the winner in the 1979 Pennsylvania Chicken “Cook Off” Contest, held June 2 at the Northern Lebanon County Area High School in Fredericksburg. The second place winner in the “Cook Off” was Catherine V. Reeves of Shohola, with a dish she calls Chicken ’N Cheese. The two winners were among eight final entrants in the contest, which was sponsored by the Pennsylvania Poultry Federation. The contest was coordinated by Ruby Leo and Elaine Caro, both members of the Pennsylvania Poultry Federation Eight finalists came to the school and began preparation of their recipes at 9 a.m. As a reward for winning the Pennsylvania contest, Jo Ann will receive an all-expense paid trip to the National Chicken Cooking Contest in Charlestown, S.C. on July 25. The first prize in the national contest is $lO,OOO. The second place winner will compete at Charleston should it become impossible for Ms. Dunlevy to go. Other contestants and their recipes were Mrs. Nicholas Angelucci of Conshohocken “Chicken Romano;” Louis Marie Clancy of Holland - “Nature’s Own Chicken;” Andrew Hill of Harrisburg - “Herbed Chicken and Mushroom Supreme;” Sheila Karolak of Pittsburgh - “East India Chicken;” Laurel Polamck of Harrisville “Laurel’s Golden Gate Chicken;" and Kathleen Juhe Tobias of Lancaster —“Kathleen’s Special Chicken.” Copies of the finalists recipes are available through the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Markets, 2301 North Cameron Street, Harrisburg, Pa. 17120.
