!, Saturday, June 23,1979 NEMA has things to crow about PHILADELPHIA Producer membership in the Northeast Egg Marketing Association lias increased 30 per cent in the past year, it was reported at the recent NEMA board of directors meeting in Philadelphia. General Manager Bill Rent reported that the mem bership gams have con tributed to a most successful year for UEP’s Nor theastern regional member. In other board action, NEMA has become a member of the New York Metropolitan Food Council, the group currently working on the problem of sizable fines being levied against food distributors in New York City. The directors also approved the hiring of a second egg promoter to work under the direction of Regional Coordinator Chris Bushway. The purpose of the second promotion position is to provide support to Nor theast and mid-Atlantic states in which no full-time egg promoter is working. USDA orders payment by firm NEW YORK, N.Y. - House of Good Celery. Inc.. Syracuse, N.Y., failed to pay two reparation awards issued by the U.S. Depart ment of Agriculture. One award, in The amount of $4,337, was issued in favor of a Washington shipper for a truckload of potatoes shipped in September of 1978. The other, m the amount of $6,600, was in favor of a Michigan shipper for celery shipped in August of 1978. The firm failed to answer the charges, and USDA ordered payment of the amounts claimed due. 21
