Editor: I strongly disagree with your editorial comments of April 7th concerning the press’ handling of the ac cident at the Three Mile Island nuclear fission plant. I think the press did a good job of informing people of the state of the situation despite attempts by power company officials to cover up their mistakes and violations. This accident caused severe mental anguish, great ecnomlc losses due to decreased property values and loss of business and exposure to radiation that for some will mean cancer and birth in the years ahead. free press was our best ally in this time of confusion and fear. People have a right to know the quality of their food, and low amounts of radioactive iodine have been detected. Instead of condemning news coverage you should have called on your readers to write their government officials and demand a moratorium on construction and operation of all nuclear power plants. A Penn sylvania without nuclear power would be a better place to live and work. Nuclear power is not a safe energy source. The cooling systems for nuclear plants are not perfected, continued exposure to low level radiation is carcinogenic and the problems pf ' ' / Quality Farm Bins, Hopper Tank Drying Floors,Fans & Heaters disposing nuclear waste are still not solved. We must rely on xoal, energy con servatioir, and new solar technology to meet our energy needs. Sincerely, Robert A. Boyer Chester Springs Editor: I want to say amen to your editorial comment on “Reactor is c 001... now the people.” I agree with all you said and, think the news reporters make everything they report 10 times worse. They never report the good of anything. I enjoy your paper very much and like your telling it like it is.
