Eastern Lebanon FFA banquet held By DIETER KRIEG MYERSTOWN Members of the Eastern Lebanon County FFA Chapter, their parents, friends, and guests, received the royal treatment here last week at the oc casion of the Chapter’s 17th annual banquet and awards program. It was held in the red-carpeted, and spacious ELCO Middle School cafeteria. With some 220 people in attendance, the Chapter celebrated the achievements of the past year and recognized outstanding members, as well as supporters of the organization. Introduced as the most distinguished member of the Chapter was Vincent C. Arnold, the 1978 State Star Agri businessman. The recognition is one of the highest awards bestowed by the Pennsylvania Association of Future Farmers of America. Vincent, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Arnold of Schaefferstown. He is the third ELCO FFA member to win the distinctive award since FFA Advisor Gerald Stockier began teaching at the school seven years ago. Vincent’s brother, Patrick, won the honor the year before. Vincent is also one of three FFA’ers from ELCO to have won the Keystone Degree last year, Vincent is a former treasurer of both the ELCO and County FFA chapters. Stacy Woods and David Wenger, both of them recipients of the Keystone Farmer Degree. Miss Woods is the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Wallace Woods, Newmanstown R 2. She has served the ELCO FFA as reporter and president and was active in all FFA program phases. Dave Wenger is the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wenger, Myerstown, to win the Keystone Degree. His older brothers, Lloyd, and Larry won the prestigious award in 1969 and 1970, respectively. Mr. and Mrs. Wenger were given a special plaque in honor of their parenting three distinguished FFA sons. Dave Wenger served the ELCO FFA Chapter as secretary and president, and was reporter for the Lebanon County FFA. Also honored were Brett Eberly, Star Chapter Farmer; Ken Arnold, Star Chapter Agri-businessmen; and Patti Heilinger, Chapter Star Greenhand. Special plaques were presented to several persons during the banquet.
