You might be one and not realize that you are. It is a person who collects post cards. There are many advantages in keeping a colorful selection of cards over the years. The beauty of the card itself is one thing and the memories that it inspires is another. Even the one cent green stamp of Franklin, which was used into the 1920’5, is a curiosity. The post card first came into being in Austria- Hungary in 1869 but none were issued in this country until 1872. Now they are big business for companies that produce them and they are the traditional form of communication between tourists and friends back home. Until 1905 the messages were written on the front of the card. Now the message is written on the back with a separate space for the address. Used cards are considered to be more valuable than new ones. They can be bought at flea markets and garage sales. Manure Pit Problems? Sinking Spring, PA "In November we had 4 ft of solids left in our hog manure pit We started using ACTINA and in Febraury we could pump all the way to the bottom with only 20 lbs of vacuum you can see ACTINA working in the pits “The Spring we spread 90,000 gallons of manure - temperature was 90 degrees with high humidity In two hours time there was hardly any odor. Last year without ACTINA, the odor nearly ran us out of the valley " Try ACTINA in your manure pits, septic tanks and other waste water L C. Mrs. Sechrist will also help with the Snack * ' Collectors sometimes specialize in such cards as those .showing cities, flowers, trains, trolleys or historic scenes. Some cards are made of wood, metal or even leather. When I look over my small collection, I’m reminded of my daughter’s car trip across the United States or of my husband’s parents who traveled through Europe while in their eighties. There are also pictures of buildings in Lancaster in the early 1900’s with wagons and touring cars in the streets. There are some of Ex-, positions, and World Fairs held in far off places. From the messages on the back, I’d guess they were used quite often instead of the telephone which we use to make arrangements for meetings now. Through the years, I’ve bought cards of places that I visited rather than just use my camera to take pictures. So whether your next card is from the mountains or the seashore, save it and become a deltiologist. STATE. PLEASE CONTACT ME Shacks on May 18 and 19 for the York Hospital Fete.
