The Banquet was held to honor their members, leaders and buyers. Brenda Warner, Hanover, was the toastmistress of the banquet and she is also the president of the York County 4-H Baby Beef Club. A memorial to Mrs. Evelyn Rishel, a 4-H leader who passed away recently, was held. The rate of gam awards were presented by Pete Caldwell, Vigortone representative; and Nor wood McGmgan, Carnation representative. Beverly Brown was first with a 3.79 pound daily gam. Second was Wilbur Delp with a 2.92 pound gam, third was Tom Sneermger with 2.87 pounds, fourth was Patti Lehigh with 2.70 pounds, sth was Tim Hoffman with a 2.68 pound gain, and 6th was Pat An derson with a 2.68 pound gam. The Roll call awards were presented by Marlyn Flaharty, Service Feed & Supply Co., Cardiff, Maryland. Four members tied for first place. The Spangler & Sprenkle Feed Company, was recognized for being the largest buyer of 4-H steers. They purchased four steers at the Roundup and five at the Farm Show. They were also the contending bidder for the reserve grand champion steer at the Farm Show, which was shown by Robert Livingston. Bob Livingston received a pewter plate from Robert Stover, Production Credit Assn., for showing the Reserve Grand Champion steer at the 1979 Pa. Farm Show. Christine Shive was presented a show stick by Cruetzberg Company for being selected champion intermediate showman at the Farm Show. William Dietz presented permenant trophies to Beverly Brown for champion showman at the York Fair; Tim Kinsley for champion fitter at York Fair; and Annete Walter for champion steer.
