According to Michael E. Pflueger, officer-in-charge of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s fruit and vegetable market news office at Hunts Point, the recorded messages, which run about two minutes, are up-dated twice each weekday. Shipping point information can be heard between 6:30 a.m. and noon, while trading data on the Hunts Point market is available from noon until 6:30 a.m. the following weekday. The latter report includes pnces as well as trends on major produce items. The market news program is operated by the depart ment’s Agricultural Marketing Service, usually m cooperation with state departments of agriculture. Helen Witmer (Society 22), Evelyn Brubaker (Society 18) and Dorothy Elmer (Society 25) served as hostesses. Thirty six members were present. President- Ann Diller conducted the meeting. Membership chairwoman Evelyn Brubaker announced that the Lancaster County Farm Women Society !N STOCK FOR ALL MODELS membership is now at 988 members. A Spring Rally will be held on May 16, at the Elizabethtown College. Mrs. Evelyn Sempier, former Miss America, will be the featured speaker. Farm Women from across the state will be attending. A monetary gift will be sent in memory of Mrs. Ann Petza, former state treasurer. Ann was killed in an accident in December.
