sylvania Farm Show next
week there are three
generations of involvement
with 4-H and cattle.
This year the Sweigard

be showing five animals in
the beef show, all registered
in her name.
The twelve year old young
lady comes from a strong
farm background. A
member of the Upper
Dauphin County Baby Beef
Monique Sweigard, Halifax R 3, will be taking her steer,Pete to the Farm Show
next week. She will also be showing four heifers at the show.

Club, it was her grandfather,
William Sweigard, who
about 32 years ago, restored
the former beef club back to
life, as be put it, mainly for
his neices and nephews to
join. At first, be noted, there
were -only five members in
the dub, but soon it began to
grow. And of course his own
son and daughter were
active members of it when
they became old enough to
join.
Later his son Eugene went
to Penn State, where among
other things be was active on
the Livestock Judging
Team.
But previous to last year

hog shows. Raising Durocs
and Yorkshires, the best of
the Sweigard’s hogs were
shown at Harrisburg with
championship ribbons
following them home. They
will not be showing any hogs
this year at the Farm Show
due to the schedules con
flicting with die beef shows.
The family, which farms
over 1500 acres, of which half
is planted in com, has
always had about 800 steers
on feed, but no purebred
stock.
