This year the Sweigard family will be represented by Moniqne Sweigard, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sweigard. She will be showing five animals in the beef show, all registered in her name. The twelve year old young lady comes from a strong farm background. A member of the Upper Dauphin County Baby Beef Monique Sweigard, Halifax R 3, will be taking her steer,Pete to the Farm Show next week. She will also be showing four heifers at the show. At first, be noted, there were -only five members in the dub, but soon it began to grow. And of course his own son and daughter were active members of it when they became old enough to join. Later his son Eugene went to Penn State, where among other things be was active on the Livestock Judging Team. Raising Durocs and Yorkshires, the best of the Sweigard’s hogs were shown at Harrisburg with championship ribbons following them home. They will not be showing any hogs this year at the Farm Show due to the schedules con flicting with die beef shows. The family, which farms over 1500 acres, of which half is planted in com, has always had about 800 steers on feed, but no purebred stock.
