Dean enjoys showing his dairy animals. Each year he participates in the Lebanon Area Fair, and for the last several years has shown at the district and state dairy shows. In 1977, he won the All Pennsylvania Junior Two Year Old Class. For the past three years Dean has competed on the state level at FFA Activities Week held at Penn State. While there, he won a silver award and an honorable mention in dairy judging and a bronze award in dairy showmanship. Dean is presently living and working on his parents’ farm. He intends to increase his dairy herd and continue farming after graduation. Shirk, 2265 Colebrook Road, Lebanon, is vice president of the Cedar Crest FFA chapter and reporter of the Lebanon County FFA Chapter. His projects in clude a dairy herd, grain com, and work experience. A senior at Cedar Crest High School, Shirk has received the Greenhand degree, and the Chapter Farmer degree. He was Star Greenhand in 1976. He placed 12th m the state FFA dairy judgmg contest in 1977 and fifth in 1978. He also represented the state of Pennsylvania in dairy judgmg at Harrisburg in the All-American dairy show, where the team placed first m the U.S. Roy placed third individually in the U S. Shirk also participates m the Lebanon Area Fair, he shows Holstein dairy cattle, and participates in tractor driving contests, and dairy judgmg. This year he placed second at the fair m dairy judging. He also par ticipated in county contests for the past several years including parliamentary procedure, com growmg, soil judgmg, dairy judgmg, Greenhand competition and public speaking contest. Shirk is a member of the FFA basketball and baseball teams, and is a member of Pep Club at Cedar Crest.
