UNIONVILLE, TENNESSEE 615-294-5102 rket and Carroll’s Market auction news Omaha Cattle December 28,1978 CATTLE - Compared with previous week’s close - closing prices on slaughter steers were weak to 50 cents lower and heifers steady to 25 cents lower. Cows were 1.001.50 higher and bulls firm to 1.00 higher. Three day receipts 11,200, Last week 15,700, A year ago 14,100. The steer trade followed a rather uneven pattern, while heifers were fairly stable during the holiday-shortened period. In early trading, steers opened firm to higher, but most buying interests were not aggressive for numbers at higher prices, and at midweek prices were forced downward. Most buyers were selective, and cattle carrying a heavy coating of mud were under additional pressure. Late demand was again geared to meet the reduced needs of another long non-slaughter weekend. There was a fairly liberal percentage choice steers and heifers, but mud was a prevalent condition. Steers made up ap proximately 45 pet. and heifers 32 pet. Cows com prised 14 pet. and feeders 6 pet. STEERS; Early, three loads Choice and Prime 3-4 1112-1171 lbs. 57.00-57.50 mainly for commodity or ders.
