Dairy farms f visited TANEYTOWN, Md. - Dairy demonstration meetings were held near here last month to offer area dairymen information on varius feeding programs, worm control, and protein management Sponsored by the Taneytown Grain and Supply Co. and the Ralston- Purina Co., and carried out in cooperation with Mr. and Mrs. C. Trenton Jones, Jr.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Null, Sr.; and Mr, and Mrs. William Null, all Carroll County dairy farm families, the event featured tours of their respective dairy facilities and herds. The first stop was at the Jones farm where the current DHIA herd average is 15,333 pounds of milk and 582 pounds of butterfat. Information concerning the Jones’ feeding program was shared with visitors. Special emphasis was given to feeding of dairy herd replacement heifers and worming programs. At Michaels’ Home, Inc., visitors talked with the Nulls. Emphasis here was on herd feeding programs, with special attention being given to the nutrition of dry cows. Ice show slated HERSHEY - Ice Capades starring Dorothy Hamill will perform at Hersheypark Arena from January 10 thru 21. Headlining the im pressive cast of skating stars is Olympic and World Champion, Dorothy Hamill. This will be Ms. Hamill’s premiere appearance at Hersheypark Arena. As the shining star of Ice Capades, Dorothy displays her ver satile talents in a broad spectrum of skating roles. In addition to her skating solo, Dorothy also appears in the production Winter Wishes, and with the Ice Cadets in Star Struck, a production number as well as the title of this year’s show. Tickets are on sale at Hersheypark Arena. Meat packer cited NEW YORK, N.Y. - Gerald A. and Leonard L. Naistadt, owners of DeWitt Packing Corp., Jamesville, N.Y., have been fined $5OO each, and they and their firm have been ordered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to stop violating financial and payment requirements of the Packers and Stockyards (P&S) Act. The packing firm formerly purchased livestock for slaughter throughout New York State. Department officials said the company has entered into receiver ship and is not operating as a business now.
